Use the following format to reflect on the Week 4 iHuman Neurovascular Assessment assignment, specifically the Athena Washington case.
Paragraph | Reflection |
---|---|
Paragraph One | In reflecting on the simulation, I noticed a marked improvement in my comfort level with iHuman. Although I approached the neuro assessment with some apprehension, as neuro is not my area of expertise and opportunities to engage with patients in neuro units are limited, I was pleased with my successful completion of the preparatory work this week. The scenario felt somewhat realistic; however, I found the patient’s brief responses challenging for conducting a thorough neuro assessment. |
Paragraph Two | Looking ahead to the next simulation, I plan to use a different computer and internet browser to potentially avoid the significant technical difficulties I encountered, which mirrored those from the previous week. Specifically, I faced challenges with interactive sounds and the blood pressure cuff inflation feature. I was surprised by the iHuman feedback, as my score was much higher than I anticipated. Given my limited hands-on neuro experience, I had expected a lower score. |
Paragraph Three | From this simulation, I realized that I possess more knowledge about neuro assessments than I previously believed. Much of the relevant information resurfaced as I navigated the simulation. This newfound confidence will be beneficial for future patient interactions in the neuro ICU. I took my time during the assessment, which allowed me to engage more thoroughly with the material. Nonetheless, I remain disappointed by the ongoing technical issues with interactive sounds, which appears to be a common concern among my peers. |
