The Final Preceptor Evaluation serves as a vital tool to assess a learner’s overall performance during the practicum experience. Its main purpose is to ensure that the preceptor provides constructive and objective feedback regarding the student’s achievements, professional growth, and areas where improvement may be needed. This reflective process benefits both the student and the preceptor by clarifying whether the practicum objectives were successfully met. Additionally, it supports the identification of future professional development opportunities and fosters accountability in clinical practice (Dang & Dearholt, 2018).
The evaluation process is conducted through the Medtrics platform. Ten days before the due date, the evaluation form becomes available to the preceptor, along with clear step-by-step instructions. Once completed, the student can access the evaluation in the “Evaluations” section of Medtrics.
To ensure accuracy and completion, the following steps should be followed:
Access the Evaluation Form: Students log in to Medtrics, select “Evaluations” from the navigation menu, and locate their evaluation form.
Review the Evaluation: Students must open the form under “My Evaluations” by selecting “About Me” and then choosing “View.” Here, they may provide comments or reflections as needed.
Finalize Submission: After review, scroll to the end of the document, select “Submit,” and electronically sign.
Download the Evaluation: A PDF copy can be generated using the “PDF” option at the bottom of the page. Students are encouraged to save this file for their records.
Submit in Canvas: Upload the downloaded PDF into the designated Canvas assignment portal.
It is important to note that this assignment is mandatory but not graded. If any technical or procedural concerns arise, students are encouraged to contact their faculty promptly for clarification (Moran, Burson, & Conrad, 2020).
